A recent study on the relationship of COVID-19 related anxiety and job engagement revealed that higher rates of servant leadership promoted job engagement and satisfaction.  Servant leaders are especially important in times of crisis as they can help keep anxious staff members “engaged” in the workplace. Servant leaders can help provide staff members “purpose” through empathy and compassion to help them consider our “shared humanity” which can help reduce the destructive effects of a crisis. We’ll discuss why servant leadership is more important than ever before in a post-COVID world and provide steps that leaders can use to improve their servant leadership skills.
